Trans Fats and Their Link to Type 2 Diabetes
Trans fats are unhealthy dietary fats commonly found in
processed and packaged foods. They are formed through industrial hydrogenation and are widely used due
to their long shelf life and stability. However, their impact on health is highly detrimental,
particularly in relation to Type 2 diabetes. Trans fats interfere with insulin sensitivity, making it
harder for the body to regulate blood sugar levels effectively. This leads to increased glucose
accumulation in the bloodstream and raises the risk of developing insulin resistance, a major precursor
to diabetes.
